Two Weeks in Rome with Save the Children
This summer, DesignlabGive had the privilege of leading a two-week sustainable fashion workshop in Rome in collaboration with Save the Children Italy. Together with our team of dedicated volunteers, we worked with women and children at Spazio Mamme in Ponte di Nona, exploring creativity as a pathway to empowerment.
Throughout the workshop, participants learned sewing, upcycling, and design skills—transforming donated textiles into unique pieces and discovering new ways to express themselves. Beyond technical training, the experience fostered connection, confidence, and cultural exchange.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we were able to provide sewing machines, materials, and tools, leaving resources behind so that creativity can continue to flourish long after our time in Rome.
For us, the most powerful takeaway was witnessing how art and design open doors to possibility. In every stitch and shared story, we saw hope, resilience, and the power of community
